For struggling readers, look at the Marshall Adult Education site for a list of short stories that include pre-reading questions and definitions, as well as follow-up questions.

Q&A on Immigration Reform: Linda Morgan-Giles-, a former reading specialist and current TASC Connect! tutor, developed some tools for us to use with students. Here isĀ  a sample that uses an article from The Times in Plain English (in the Skills Review: Reading>Read More! section on firstfind) to engage a student in a Q & A to develop comprehension skills.

For higher level readers, here are 36 cross-curricular reading exercises with passages and questions about science, social studies, mathematics, and more. Passages are several paragraphs; questions require several skills, including inference, summarizing, etc. Answer sheets are included.
