NEW: NY State Smart Seniors Initiative – Protecting yourself against scams.

The NYS Office of the Attorney General has recognized the prevalence of phone, email, and mail scams targeted specifically towards older New Yorkers. The Smart Seniors initiative hopes to protect the financial security of seniors by:

  1. Sharing consumer alerts regarding the latest scams, upcoming legislature changes, and financial safety tips.
  2. Distributing longer publications which detail specific scams and how to protect yourself financially.
  3. Providing speakers who can come out to your group or organization.
  4. Providing a hotline for reporting elder neglect and abuse.
